Keep your home free from slips,trips and falls for children

Slips are the loss of balance caused by too little friction between your feet and the walking surface. Lack of friction can be caused by wet surfaces and spills. Improper foot wear, hurrying or running and not paying attention to your path way can cause slipping.
A trip is the result of loss of balance caused by the interrupted movements of one or both feet. Your body's momentum moves your centre of balance out from your feet and you trip.A person can also fall when sick or tired.
As a parent it is your responsibility to provide a safe environment where your children are free to explore and grow without any risk of injury.For this you must make your home fall proof. Most falls occur from tripping over a misplaced item or falling on a slippery floors.
  • Always remove items from the floor because any little thing on the floor can cause a fall.Teach children to pick up their toys from the floor
  • There should be no wires or cords of the floor.
  • Clean the spills immediately.
  • Keep children out of the kitchen when cleaning the floor.
  • Walk carefully when carrying hot food.
  • Install night lights in bath rooms.
  • Install grab bars in and out of the bath tub.
  • Don't let the soap fall on the floor.
  • Keep the bathroom floor dry.
  • Always keep checking the stairs carpets. Loose carpeting can cause a fall.
  • Teach the kids to use the hand rails on both sides of stairs whenever going up or down.
  • Never use the stairs as temporary storage.
  • Don't let the kid play on the stairs.
  • Teach a children not to run or rush on stairs.
  • Never let a children to climb onto a furniture including tables , chairs and counter tops.
